During a press conference yesterday, held to kick-off the 2014 MLB All-Star Game fan balloting, the Minnesota Twins unveiled the 2014 All-Star Game batting practice jersey.
So far, we’ve only seen the American League version — this jersey is red with “AMERICAN” across the front in the same font used on the 2014 MLB All-Star Game logo. Eight beige stars are above the wordmark, a large blue star behind it. Nine stars in total, one for each of the 9 starters in the batting lineup? Nine defensive players?
According to a Tweet from photographer Brace Hemmelgarn the jerseys are navy on the backside (unfortunately there appears to be no photo of this). The red front/blue back carries over an oft-panned split jersey style we saw several teams use during spring training prior to this season. Thankfully these will only be seen, really during the Home Run Derby, players are still wearing their usual team jerseys during the actual game.
