The Atlanta Braves and San Francisco Giants will both wear throwback uniforms for their 7pm ET game tonight in Atlanta.
It’s all a part of the Braves’ first annual “Atlanta Braves Heritage Weekend”, which the club says is held “To celebrate Atlanta’s rich diversity”, and “to honour baseball’s role in affecting social change.”
Both clubs will be wearing Negro League uniforms for the game tonight. Atlanta will be wearing the uniforms of the Atlanta Black Crackers, the team has not yet released a photograph of what those uniforms will look like however they previously wore Black Crackers throwbacks last year in a game against Washington on June 1st.
San Francisco is going with the uniforms of the 1940s San Francisco Sea Lions, a photo of that jersey – tweeted out last night by @stewardsfolly:
Yeah, that’s a bear cub on the front of a Sea Lions jersey. Apparently the original Sea Lions just bought the uniforms of another team and didn’t bother to change the logo patch. Kudos to the Giants for sticking to that history.
