New Era and Major League Baseball have unveiled the 2014 edition of the camouflage “Stars and Stripes” cap; the design will be worn, on field, by all 30 Major League clubs on this coming Memorial Day – Monday, May 26th.
So, stating the obvious… they’re bad.
But they’re not as bad as last years.
While the 2014 design does still place a heavy emphasis on the digital camouflage pattern which led to Memorial Day 2013 being the worst dressed day in MLB history, they at least reduced it’s usage.
Last year, all-over camo. This year it’s just the crown, and there’s some honest-to-god individual team colours on each cap. A step in the right direction! But if it were up to me, and we *had* to include camouflage, let’s do it like we did it in 2012 please.

Will the Blue Jays actually wear this design this time? I’d be surprised. Last year they opted to wear their new maple leaf BP cap paired with the camo jersey “to honour both Canada and the United States”, there’s no reason for them to suddenly change that reasoning. As was the case in 2013, the Jays will play in Toronto on Memorial Day (not a Canadian holiday).
As for the jerseys, we haven’t seen them yet. The whispers suggest it’ll be similar to last season (camouflage pattern within the team lettering) but on the alternate jersey base (where applicable) instead of just white and grey as it was in 2013.
