Baseball Team to Wear Michael Jackson Jerseys

Gary Southshore Railcats Michael Jackson Jersey 2014

The Gary Southshore Railcats, an independent baseball club in the American Association, will pay tribute to one of their own next Saturday, June 21st, when they wear special Michael Jackson themed jerseys.

Jackson was one of the most famous pop musicians of all-time, he was born in Gary, Indiana in 1958 and died 5 years ago.

The Railcats uniform is patterned off of Jackson’s famous red and silver jacket worn in the music video for “Beat It” in 1982. It will include their alternate “G” logo on the chest of the “jacket” and also have a patch for “End Polio Now” on the left sleeve.

Player numbers and the shoulders will have a faux “shimmery” pattern. Players are not expected to wear silver, shiny baseball gloves although that would be, like the one time it would be acceptable to do so in a baseball game.

Michael Jackson had been honoured by the Railcats in the past, before a game in 2012 his children throw out the ceremonial first pitch.

Game worn jerseys will be auctioned off during the game.
