Jr Hockey: Rebels and IceDogs Unveil New Uniforms

New Red Deer Rebels Jersey 2014-15

Two members of the Major Junior ‘A’ Canadian Hockey League unveiled new uniforms over the past day, the Western League Red Deer Rebels and Ontario’s Niagara Ice Dogs.

Red Deer showed off new alternate uniforms (photo at top of this post) just a day after they were awarded the hosting rights to the 2016 CHL Memorial Cup. The new Rebels alternates are red with a black and sand shoulder yoke. Across the waist and arms are sand and black horizontal stripes (this wouldn’t be a half-bad Arizona Coyotes future uniform design… just saying).

On the chest of the new Rebels look is the cattle skull logo taken from their primary logo, on the shoulder is the “R” logo which was on their prior alternate uniform.

Moving on to the Ontario Hockey League, the Niagara IceDogs unveiled their new home and road set via their official Twitter account last night.

Niagara’s new uniform is a very welcome switch to a more traditional look after several modern jersey designs used over the past 15 years back to their days playing out of Mississauga.

You may be saying to yourself, “Gee, that looks a lot like the Chicago Blackhawks”… Well, that’s fairly intentional.

The Niagara IceDogs play out of St. Catharines, Ontario — St Catharines’ previous OHL team was known as the St. Catharines Black Hawks who wore a straight clone of Chicago’s NHL uniforms (with a shoulder patch showing STC instead of a C):

The new IceDogs uniforms feature crossed dog bones instead of tomahawks (clever) and include a new “STC” design.

To compare here’s what the IceDogs wore from 2011 until 2014:
