So if you missed last week’s post, here’s the deal: College football teams are busing out brand new looks nearly every week at an alarming rate, to the point where it’d be crazy to cover each of them individually. So instead of doing that, we’re going to cover them in a weekly catch-all post. At least it’s hopefully a catch-all, because there’s always the chance that one of these teams might decide “Oh hey, let’s pop the crowd and the players themselves by warming up in one uniform and running out in another!
So now, without further ado, let’s see what the college football world is preparing to unleash upon us this weekend:
Air Force
It’s October, so there’s pink gear all over the place, and the Air Force Falcons have gotten in on the visual awareness drive by adorning their helmet logo and stripe in pink for this weekend’s contest.
Army
After wearing the home version of their camo unis last week, the Black Knights will be wearing the road version for their trip to Kent State, which means they’ll be camo from head to toe. Again, for a school like Army, this is awesome and makes all of the sense in the world as a cool alternate uniform.
The patriotism continues as Eastern Washington will be having Military Appreciation weekend, and are marking it with special uniforms.
However, as our friend Phil Hecken pointed out on Twitter, this isn’t exactly a unique design for the Eagles or adidas. Tisk, tisk, tisk.
Illinois
In honor of the legendary Red Grange’s 6-touchdown performance against Michigan 90 years ago, the Illinois Fighting Illini will be wearing Gray Ghost uniforms to commemorate the anniversary, which coincidentally falls on Homecoming weekend. I’m honestly impressed with Illinois for finding a decent enough excuse to hop on the gray bandwagon.
Mizzou will be debuting a brand-new helmet design this weekend, which you can see below:
After receiving only a passing mention in last week’s post, the Ducks are big time players in the uniform game this week, and it’s not just because of some funky uniform combo that we’ve all grown used to. Instead, it’s because the Ducks will be wearing throwbacks to celebrate the 20-year anniversary of the ’94 team, who won the then-Pac-10 Conference for only the 6th time in school history (in comparison, the Ducks have won the Pac 10/12 5 times since 2000). Of course, Oregon throwbacks mean that we get to see the return of the Donald Duck (a.k.a. Puddles) logo to the uniforms!
There’s no word on whether or not these will be worn this weekend (if ever), but if I had to guess, this could very well be the helmet for Texas Tech’s Lone Star Pride uniform this season. They’ve worn a Texas-themed uniform for a game for the past 2 seasons now (2012 and 2013), but if this helmet is any indication, this season’s look might be the most ambitious-looking uniform of this series.
You know things have gotten stir-crazy in the college football uniform world when even Southern Cal has decided that they should break out a new helmet, and that’s just what the Trojans have done. It’s not a huge departure from their normal helmets, but the glossy chrome finish should definitely stand out this weekend.
Utah
They unveiled this helmet during the offseason, but they’ll be wearing it as part of an all-white look.

As always, if there’s anything missing or any other notes that you want to add, feel free to let us know in the comment section. Also, let us know what you think is your favorite of these looks. If it isn’t the Donald Duck throwbacks, then I’ll be shocked.
