BYU Cougars Modernize A Classic

New BYU Logo

The Brigham Young University Cougars unveiled their new logo late last week, a modernized take on their classic cougar-head mark.

BYU approached us back in June about updating their vintage Cougar mark,” Brad Bishop, owner of Torch Creative told us via an email. “This mark has been very popular among the students, alumni and overall fan base”

“We went through a couple of rounds of sketches and tried a couple of different poses/treatments. In the end, they wanted to really keep him as similar as possible to the original, which we did.”

Fans of the new BYU logo can expect to see it start appearing on merchandise “very soon” according to a Tweet from Adam Parker, BYU’s Trademark Manager.

Before the BYU mark, Torch Creative was most recently responsible for the new Goodyear Cotton Bowl logo as well previously for the logos of the NHL Stanley Cup Final, Montana State Bobcats, and Cal Poly Pomona.
