Tonight the Florida Everblades will take to the ice with either the most adorable uniforms in hockey history… or the creepiest, really it depends on how you look at things.
As part of their “Teddy Bear Toss” night, an evening when fans throw teddy bears onto the ice after the first home team goal, the players will wear these jerseys:
“Teddy Bear Toss” is fairly common amongst non NHL hockey teams, while I’m not sure when/where it started I do recall tossing bears on the ice at an Oshawa Generals OHL game in the late 1990s. The event is usually held close to the holidays, the tossed toys are then donated.
Jerseys will be auctioned after the game, the proceeds from those sales will also be donated:
Jerseys will be auctioned off following the game to benefit the Golisano Children’s Hospital of southwest Florida. Game time is 7:00 p.m.
