The new San Jose AHL franchise will be known as the San Jose Barracuda according to a report in the Silicon Valley Business Journal earlier today. Logo appears above.
From the article:
“The toothy moniker follows a multi-year “presenting sponsorship” deal with Campbell-based Barracuda Networks, the sources said. Terms of the agreement weren’t available, and Barracuda and the Sharks declined to comment for this story. An official announcement is expected sometime this week.”
I really wish I wasn’t told the name was because of a sponsorship deal…
The logo shows a razor-toothed rather angry barracuda holding an orange hockey stick, two teal teeth behind it. Team name in the lower left in orange, black, and white.
The Barracuda are set to play in San Jose’s SAP Center starting in the 2015-16 season as part of the AHL’s shift westward, they will be the farm club to their NHL roommates, the San Jose Sharks. They played out of Worcester, MA this past season.
