Other than some experiments on Christmas Day and other league-wide events, you don’t normally see any splashes of color when it comes to NBA players and their socks. That’s about to change in a big way, as ESPN’s Darren Rovell is reporting that basketball sock company Stance has come to an agreement with the NBA to become the official sock supplier of the league.
The biggest news here is the fact that Rovell is also reporting that Stance will be making socks for each NBA team in their team colors.
Terms were not disclosed, but Stance, which solely makes socks, will be giving the NBA a guaranteed royalty, as is standard with licensing deals. As part of the multiyear deal, which will begin next season, Stance will make socks for all the league’s players in team colors. Those socks, as well as other limited-edition socks made by Stance, will be sold at retail.
This is easily the most interesting development for socks in NBA history. Back when FBF was the official sock supplier of the NBA, the socks that the players wore were just black and white with the NBA logo on them. Now, we’re going to see a variety of colors and we’ll also see Stance’s logo on the socks as well. Things are changing big time in the world of NBA socks.
So, what do you think? Glad that the NBA is livening up its sock game, or do you think that they should just stick to black-and-white?
