The Indianapolis Motor Speedway today unveiled the logo for the 2016 running of the Indianapolis 500 mile race, the 100th time this race will be held.
“Each year we design a new logo for the Indianapolis 500, but this year’s effort has been given special consideration,” said Mark Miles, CEO of Hulman & Co., the company which owns the racetrack, “The logo for the 100th Indianapolis 500 recognizes both our illustrious past and an even brighter future.”
The 2016 version of the logo incorporates a modernized take on the classic “winged-tire” design from the logo of the IMS, the “00” in “500” has a “1” towering behind it to make note of this being the 100th edition.
