The American Hockey League’s St. John’s IceCaps have updated their primary logo to reflect their new affiliation agreement with the NHL’s Montreal Canadiens. The changes were unveiled this morning during an event held at the Mile One Centre in St. John’s, NL.
Red, white, and blue have replaced the old colour scheme of double blue and grey — put in place originally due to their previous affiliation with the Winnipeg Jets.
The logo features mountains capped with ice (get it?), the ice is shaped like a map of Newfoundland and Labrador, the home province of the team.
“The new logo maintains our well established identity while incorporating the iconic red, white and blue colour scheme of the Canadiens. These bold new colours signal a new direction for our franchise and I’m sure they will create excitement and anticipation for IceCaps fans, as we head into the upcoming season.” – IceCaps President Danny Williams
The IceCaps’ new home and road uniforms will not be unveiled until later this Summer.
