The Philadelphia 76ers unveiled their new team uniforms tonight at a fan event held at the Wells Fargo Center.
A combination of three different eras was the theme of the evening – 1967, 1977, and 1983, and all three eras are represented in the new look.
“PHILA” is across the front of the home white and road blue jerseys, a nod to the Wilt Chamberlain era of 1967.
The “SIXERS” red alternate is based off of the road uniform worn by Dr. J during the 1983 NBA Championship season.
Up one side of the jerseys and shorts we have seven stars (four jersey, three shorts), on the other side of the uniform we have six stars. Seven, Six, Seventy-sixers.
Similar to the Milwaukee Bucks and their “Fear the Deer” tag, the 76ers will also have one which reads “Phila Tough”, also upside-down meant to be visible to the player as they tuck their jersey into their shorts before each game
Uniforms are not yet available for sale, the team said earlier on Twitter that they would be in stores by September.
