The Cubs and White Sox will both pay heavy respect to two of their fallen legends this weekend at Wrigley Field and again in August across Chicago.
For the finale of their series this weekend, the Cubs and White Sox will don the uniforms made famous by Ernie Banks and Minnie Minoso, greats of the game who both died earlier in 2015. The Cubbies will wear reproductions of the home uniforms worn by Banks’ 1958 Chicago Cubs, all of which will bear his number 14 on the back of the jersey.

Next month, on August 14th, the two teams will meet up again this time at U.S. Cellular Field where the White Sox will wear uniforms with Minoso’s #9 on the back. Here’s what the Cubs will be wearing for that matchup.

We’re still awaiting a shot of the White Sox uniform for this game.

Team-wide number tributes are not nothing new but they are rare. Every member of the Boston Red Sox wore #6 on the back of their uniform in memory of Johnny Pesky in a game against the Angels on August 21, 2012 and of course there is the annual tradition of all players in Jackie Robinson’s 42 on April 15th.
