The Miami Dolphins have unveiled their new alternate uniform… no, it’s not orange but it is a throwback.
Inspired by the uniform of their first season fifty years ago, the Dolphins new throwback uniform is teal with white numbers trimmed in orange and alternating white and orange stripes on the sleeves:
The helmet brings back the original team logo and striping with grey facemask. No, the NFL hasn’t changed their rule about throwback helmets, the Dolphins are simply peeling off stickers and applying new ones whenever they wear this lid. It’s the same physical helmet.
Pants are white with teal and orange stripes running down the side, socks are also teal with alternate white, teal, and orange vertical stripes:
Miami has said the new uniforms are an homage to those worn in the first game in Dolphins history, played in September 1966 and represents the prestige and heritage of Florida’s first NFL football team.
Uniforms are scheduled to be worn during the Dolphins’ Monday Night Football appearance on December 14, 2015. It will be the first time the team has worn throwbacks for a home game.
