I know it seems like we’ve been going a bit too hard on adidas as of late, but when they continue to push, kick, and toss the envelope like they do, then they make it kind of easy for us to be critical. The latest example is their latest unveiling for Michigan’s basketball team.
From the waist up, it looks like a classic Michigan basketball uniform, with a design that’s clearly reminiscent of the school’s Fab Five Era.
However, once we reveal the rest of the uniform, that’s when things get a little crazy:
Why? What’s the point of that stripe at that position? This could’ve been a really solid-looking uniform for the Wolverines, and instead we’re sitting here talking about the wacky shorts stripes. There’s really no reason why that stripe pattern should be there, but it’s there for some weird reason.
The question now is whether or not we’ll see multiple schools using this as a template. Are we going to see that, or is this just a Michigan thing? Either way, the point is that adidas is just getting weirder and weirder with their designs nowadays. I think that a lot of Michigan fans can’t wait for the Nike takeover, just so they can avoid these wonky designs for their athletic programs.
