The New Orleans Pelicans are all set to party Mardi Gras style… and it’s only September. The NBA team unveiled their new Mardi Gras themed “pride” uniforms at a media event earlier today, the uniforms will be the first Pelicans jersey to feature sleeves.
Across the chest is “NOLA”, shortform for “New Orleans, Louisiana” across the chest in gold letters styled like the famous architecture of the city. Around each sleeve is a green and gold stripe (the Rockets’ new uniforms unveiled earlier this week also featured this same design), an “NO/basketball” logo at the front collar.
New Orleans had previously worn “Mardi Gras” jerseys from 2010 through 2013 while they were known as the Hornets, this season will be their first wearing the jerseys as the Pelicans.
The uniforms will be worn six times in 2016 during Mardi Gras season, the team also announced they would continue to wear their red alternate jerseys but now just during single-game road trips.
