We already know that the Ohio State Buckeyes will be wearing black uniforms for their October 17th game vs. Penn State. What we didn’t know was what those uniforms would look like. Now, we’ve got a pretty clear look at what the jerseys will look like, as the jerseys have been leaked.

The images came from a source of Andrew Lind, who was the one who broke the news about the black jerseys back in the summer. He also reported via Twitter that the Buckeyes decided to go with a different design because the leaked design received too much fan backlash. See, Nike does listen to their consumers!

The crew over at Eleven Warriors did a mockup of what the jerseys should look like on the field.

Also, the Buckeyes plan to wear black pants with the black jerseys as well, so we’re going to see a full-on blackout look here.

So, why are the Buckeyes eschewing decades of tradition by hopping on the blackout trend? Recruiting, of course!

ESPN was granted access to Urban Meyer’s office in late October 2014 and photos popped up of what appeared to be a black uniform mockup.

Ohio State’s head coach said shortly thereafter that his team could don the black threads “somewhere down the road,” but it ultimately was up to his boss, Ohio State Vice President and Director of Athletics Gene Smith. You know how much Meyer adores recruiting, and it’s all about making the talented teens considering Ohio State happy.

So, what do you think of the look so far? Will the finished product make you a fan, or should the Buckeyes stick to their traditional look of scarlet-and-gray?
