The Pride and alternate NBA uniforms are hitting the league’s landscape like crazy as we get closer and closer to the league’s tipoff date, and the Detroit Pistons are the latest team to unveil their new alternate uniform.
As you can see, the basic uniform design isn’t too different from their regular set of uniforms. The only difference is that the main color of the uniform is now gray (or Chrome, as they put it in their press release), and it has navy and white trim on the sides and along the collar of the jersey.
As usual when it comes to these types of uniforms, the team made sure to give us an elaborate explanation as to why they chose this particular design for their alternate uniform:
The inspiration for the Detroit Chrome jerseys came about as a way to honor our coolest cars from the past and the cars of the future. Detroit is universally known as the auto capitol of the world, where chrome leaves an indelible mark on the cars we create. The uniforms feature a matte chrome base color with clean simple lines inspired by the classic muscle cars that have roared up and down Woodward Avenue for decades. The navy trim and Detroit emblazoned across the chest represent the blue collar work ethic that the auto industry and region was built on.
So, it’s no shock that they decided to find a way to tie in the city’s history in automobiles in this alternate. Overall, the uniform itself is nothing too crazy. It’s basically just their regular uniforms with a gray-and-navy paint job. Do you think the color scheme works for the Pistons here, or should they have gotten a little bit more adventurous?
