The city of New Britain, Connecticut won’t have to wait long for baseball to return to their town.
Just a few short months after the Eastern League’s Rock Cats moved down the road to Hartford, the independent Atlantic League came calling to fill the void. Introducing, the New Britain Bees. The Bees will take the place of the Camden Riversharks who are no longer in the league.
The Bees name is based off of New Britain’s motto of “industry fills the hive and enjoys the honey”, a beehive also appears on the city seal and flag.
Logos were designed by Skye Dillon of Skye Design Studios, according to the team “the Roman lettering was rendered to feel as if it were crafted from metal, bold and strong like the city. Each letter is connected by honey, and a beehive icon has been integrated to reinforce this sense of community.” There will be additional logos unveiled in the coming weeks.
New Britain’s new ball team will take the field for the first time on April 21, 2016 against the York Revolution.
