The NFL and Nike’s Color Rush program is coming to a close, with the final game of the Thursday Night series taking place next week between the St. Louis Rams and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The Bucs have decided to add a second red jersey to their uniform set by wearing a simpler red uniform with red pants, while the Rams have decided to remix their throwback uniforms by inverting the colors on their jerseys.
First, let’s take a look at the Bucs’ uniforms. As you can see, they’ve made a few changes to the uniform in order to make things simpler and keep the focus on Tampa Bay’s bold shade of red. The pewter shoulder yoke is gone, as are the pewter pants. The orange shoulder and pants stripes has been replaced by pewter stripes, and the numbers are pewter with a white outline.
In my opinion, the jerseys are actually a pretty solid upgrade over what they currently wear. If they were to add a small bit of orange on the shoulder stripe and invert the number colors from pewter-with-white outlines to white-with-pewter outlines, then this would be a gigantic upgrade over their current jerseys. It would be a nice fit with their regular pewter pants, in my opinion. However, the all-red look is a bit much. Then again, it’s the Color Rush so expecting anything other than monochrome is a mistake. So, to sum things up here, the jerseys are nice but the pants are a bit of overkill. However, it’s definitely not the worst Color Rush uniform that we’ve seen yet.
Meanwhile, the Rams are keeping things simple as well, but that is an extremely bold shade of yellow/gold that they’re going with. Anytime you see a football team wearing yellow from head-to-toe, it’s going to turn heads.
Also, I’m pretty sure that that’s also a darker shade of blue than what the team normally wears on their throwbacks, which means that the blue on the jersey will match the blue on the helmet. I’m not exactly sure, but that’s what it appears to be based on the images.

Yeah, let’s just call it like it is: This is basically a good old, All-American matchup of Ketchup vs. Mustard. I suppose that this is a fitting end to the Color Rush program in 2015. We’ve had some hits and plenty of misses, but it’s definitely been interesting to say the least.
What do you guys think, though? Are you a fan of the simpler Bucs uniforms? Do you like the gold version of the Rams throwbacks? Are you glad that this is over (for now)? Let us know how you feel!
