Some new details are starting to trickle in here to SportsLogos.Net on the plans the Toronto Maple Leafs have for their 100th season in 2016-17.

In addition to the new primary logo and home/road uniforms we reported on this past weekend, thanks to an anonymous source from within the organization we’re now able to report the team will wear at least three throwback uniforms: a Toronto Arenas jersey, Toronto St. Patricks, and a 1930s design similar to their 2014 Winter Classic uniform. We’ve heard the number of different throwbacks worn could be as high as eight but at this point are only able to confirm the three.

The Arenas uniform is being reported to us as blue with white cuffs and a large white “T” on the chest, this description matches the uniforms worn by the 1917-18 Stanley Cup Champion Toronto “Arenas”, as well as the pre-cursor franchise to the team, the NHA’s Toronto Blueshirts from 1913-1917.

No details on the design of the St. Pats uniform (other than it’s green, obviously), the team is said to be planning to wear this uniform annually going forward for their home game closest to St. Patrick’s Day.

The third design is described as “very close to the [2014] Winter Classic” jersey, which could essentially be any of the designs worn by the club between 1927 and 1934.

You’d have to expect the team will, at the very least, also be throwing back to what’s generally regarded as their best uniform, those worn during the first half of the 1960s, and later as an alternate jersey in 1991 and again (now in white) from 1999-2011.

Reports are also now circulating that the Leafs will play host to the 2017 Winter Classic at the MLSE owned BMO Field, Toronto’s outdoor MLS and CFL stadium, we can confirm this report.

A BMO Field hosted Winter Classic would be the first game of the nine-game series to be held outside the United States. The Rogers Centre roof cannot be opened or closed in cold temperatures (not even during the Jays playoff run) therefore eliminating it as an option for an outdoor game, unfortunately.

The Toronto Maple Leafs are expected to officially announce their plans for their 100th anniversary season sometime early in the new year.
