When the Vancouver Canucks wear their throwback 1990s black-yellow-red uniforms next month, Ryan Miller’s going to look the part.
Posted to the Facebook page of goalie mask designers Bishop Design, Miller’s custom mask is black with red and yellow stripes and features the classic “flying skate” logo on the side.
Those stripes on the front and the back could also be mimicking the “V” design which once adorned the front of the Canucks uniforms during the era of this logo/colour scheme. Nice touch. Of course, goalie mask designs were much simpler in those days, as shown by Richard Brodeur…
Kirk McLean wore the actual uniform design the Canucks will be wearing later this season longer than any other goalie, here’s how his mask represented the era:
Vancouver will wear the retro threads on February 13th when they host the Toronto Maple Leafs.
