On Monday, we had a slew of Major League Soccer changes occur. The Chicago Fire and Real Salt Lake unveiled their home kits for 2016, and the defending champions Portland Timbers teased their “Rose City” kits and also made their secondary logo their new primary logo.
The aforementioned changes were official, but the following changes from the LA Galaxy and New York City FC are not exactly official, but we figure that they will be pretty soon. Both the Galaxy and NYCFC saw their new kits for 2016 get leaked. First, let’s take a look at what NYCFC has to offer:
The navy shirt with orange trim appears to be NYCFC’s away shirt. It’s a pretty interesting one, and it looks like it’s going to have a lot of detail on the body of the shirt. I can’t really make it out since it’s a pretty small image, but there appears to be a ripple effect emanating from the crest. It’s a strange look if I’m being totally honest, here, and they probably would’ve been better off sticking with their inaugural away kit. At least it looks clear that they’re keeping their sharp home kit, though!
Meanwhile, here’s a look at the Galaxy’s new home shirt:
That’s a solid-looking shirt. It’s always nice to see the Galaxy stay true to tradition by incorporating the sash into their home kit, and they also did a good job of diversifying by making it a bit of a double sash. The two colors work well in tandem, which makes this a solid look. Combine that with the shoulders being cleaned up thanks to Adidas moving the stripes from the shoulders to the sides, and this is a pretty clean-looking shirt from the front. Galaxy fans should be pleased with what they see when the finished product is unveiled sometime soon.
Do you agree with me, here? Did the west coast team come out on top when compared to the east coast team?
