The good: Roman numerals are returning
The bad: The template pretty much remains
The noteworthy: At least there’s some colour this time.
That about sums it up, the new logo for Super Bowl 51, which will be known officially as Super Bowl LI, was spotted in an online version of the program for next weekend’s Super Bowl 50. The logo shows the return to Roman numerals, a slight change up to the template (but the same basic idea remains), and the addition of the colour red.
When put side-by-side with the previous template you’ll see the position of the numbers are more like what was done for Super Bowl 50, they have been moved up to be on either side of the trophy with the Super Bowl wordmark below:
It’s still a pretty blah logo, and we’re guessing there will be a “regional version” which will show the host field, Houston’s Reliant Stadium in the back (like University of Phoenix Stadium is shown in the Super Bowl XLIX example above). It is what it is I guess, but like I said earlier… at least there’s some colour in there now.
