This weekend, DC United will unveil their new kit, and as expected, it’s an all-black number with red-and-white trim. The new shirt coincides with the sharp new crest that the team unveiled at the end of last season, and the shirt itself is a very good compliment to a solid logo.
However, SI.com’s Brian Straus noted that there was a bit of an error when it came to the design on the inside of the collar. In an effort to reach out to reach out to the local fanbase, the team decided to put the city’s motto of “Taxation Without Representation” on the inside of the collar. Unfortunately, a manufacturing error made it so that it reads “Without Representation Taxation.” Yikes.
Maybe we’ll see a quick fix before the team actually takes the field in the new kit? Or at least before they start selling the shirts to the public. Either way, it’s a decent-sized gaffe for Adidas and DC United, even if the sentiment of reaching out to the needs of the local fanbase is indeed a nice one.
With that being said, if they fix that particular issue, then DCU will have a nice-looking shirt on their hands. Do you agree, though?
