Last month, we got a look at what is probably going to be US Soccer’s clash kit for the 2016 Copa America Centenario. Let’s just say that it’s an unpopular look. Also, soon after that we received details on what the home kit would look like. Now, thanks to one of our sources, we’ve got pictures of what the USMNT will be wearing for Copa America.
If the tiny blue-and-white stripes on the sleeves are giving off a denim effect, that appears to be on purpose. According to this video from Todo Sobre Camisetas, this is apparently a call-back to the infamous kits that the USMNT wore for the 1994 World Cup. That’s a weird kit to pay homage to, but I’m sure that some of you out there will like that Nike and the USMNT decided to bring back memories of those totally ’90s kits.
I will say this — this is better than the away kit, if only because of the fact that there’s no black involved. With that being said, if this is indeed the final product (and all signs point towards this being the case), then it’s not one of the best efforts for the USMNT in recent years, and it’s a bit of an underwhelming debut for the new crest on a shirt.
What do you all think, though? Anybody out there actually a fan of the USMNT’s shirts for the 2016 Copa America Centenario? Let us know what you think!
