Back in February, we got word of the fact that the Detroit Lions were considering a uniform overhaul that would go into effect in time for the 2017-18 NFL season. They also confirmed that they would be participating in the NFL’s Color Rush program for the 2016 season. Now, we’ve got further confirmation from Lions president Ron Wood that the Lions will be participating in the Color Rush. However, Wood declined to comment on what color the team would go with.
However, if this tweet from Lions tight end Eric Ebron is any indication, the uniforms will NOT be black.
This is obviously a pretty good thing, since this means that we won’t be seeing the Lions return to black uniforms. It seems like there are now three choices left for the Lions: All-Honolulu Blue, all-silver, or all-white. The doomsday scenario of all-black has been ruled out, so these options aren’t too bad. Granted, none of the options are particularly attractive, but if I had to go with one of these options, I’d choose all-blue. If I had to guess, the Lions will probably jump on the gray bandwagon and go all-silver. This is all speculation at this point, though.
What do you all think of this news? Since the Lions are apparently confirmed to do the Color Rush next season, which option would you go with?
