The 2016 NCAA Basketball Tournament has been pretty wild so far, and that’s evidenced by the fact that for the first time ever, we saw a 13, 14, and 15-seed win during the first round of the tournament. It’s been a good year to be an underdog, and it’s always more fun whenever we see wild upsets like what we saw during the first weekend of the tournament.
One of those underdogs is Syracuse, who entered the tournament as a 10-seed. Now, had the bracket held form, Syracuse would’ve been wearing their orange jerseys throughout the entire tournament, since the higher seed in the tournament has to wear their road uniforms. However, due to all the craziness that’s gone on, Syracuse was able to wear its white home uniform against 15-seed Middle Tennessee State. They won that game, and now they’ll be playing 11-seed Gonzaga in the next round on Friday.
As the lower seed, Syracuse will probably wear their white home uniforms. If they do, then it’ll be the first time in NCAA Tournament history that a double-digit will have worn their white uniforms for consecutive games in the tournament. If they advance, they’ll be wearing orange for the rest of the tournament.
Still, the fact that we have a 10-seed playing as the “home” team for two consecutive games is crazy. My condolences to all of you who have seen their brackets get completely obliterated after just one weekend of action. March Madness, baby!
