The oldest soccer competition in the United States will have a new look for the 2016 edition of the tournament, as US Soccer unveiled their new logo for the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup.
This was as good of a time as any to update the new logo, especially since the old logo (which can be seen directly below) would’ve been considered outdated since it used the “US” part of the old US Soccer logo as the focal point of the logo.
Now, the logo appears to be closer in branding to the new US Soccer logo, although it does look similar to the old FA Cup logo. That’s probably just due to the fact that we’re talking about silhouettes of cup trophies on a red background, here.
Now that you’ve seen the new logo and the old logo for the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup, which one do you prefer? Did the competition take a step forward with the new logo, or is this a downgrade in your eyes?
