Purple reigns today in Minnesota.
Prince Rogers Nelson, an extremely popular musician better known to those of us left here on Planet Earth as simply “Prince”, died earlier today at his recording studio in Chanhassen, Minnesota.
To show their respects to their fallen hometown star, the NHL’s Minnesota Wild and baseball’s Minnesota Twins didn’t go black, they mourned with a much more Prince appropriate colour… purple.
The Wild, in the midst of a Stanley Cup playoff series, changed their social media icons on both Twitter and Facebook to purple, while the Twins (who also went purple in their social media headers) lit their ballpark in purple lights with a special memorial graphic on their scoreboard:
Prince was born in Minneapolis, Minnesota in 1958, he was just 57 years old at the time of his death.
