Something something hot-and-ready.
Olympia Entertainment, owner of the Detroit Red Wings today announced the brand-new home arena of the NHL hockey club would be known as Little Caesars Arena. The Red Wings are planning on moving from Joe Louis Arena (their home for over 35 years) to the new arena in time for the 2017-18 season.
The naming rights deal is worth $120 million and will last twenty years despite the fact the owners of both the pizza chain and the arena are one-and-the-same.
Along with the name, the logo of the new arena was unveiled, a video accompanying the release of the logo suggests the round shape featured could represent anything from a hockey puck to a basketball hoop to the shape of the nose on the Little Caesars mascot.
The new arena is being built just outside of downtown on Woodward Avenue, kitty corner to Comerica Park. According to the rendering released along with the new name today, the building will feature a giant Little Caesars logo on the roof.
