Sixers First to Announce Jersey Advertising Deal

Sixers StubHub Patch

The first domino has fallen.

This morning the NBA’s Philadelphia 76ers announced they have struck a deal with StubHub to place their corporate logo as a patch on their in-game jerseys beginning with the 2017-18 season. Philadelphia becomes the first team of the major-four North American sports leagues to place a sponsors logo on their regular season uniform full-time.

“We are an organization that takes pride in breaking new ground and being innovative,” 76ers CEO Scott O’Neil told, “This marks another groundbreaking first for the Philadelphia 76ers and StubHub. Our brands are now inextricably linked as we create lifelong memories for our fans in Philadelphia and around the world.”

StubHub’s logo will appear on all three Sixers uniforms, their rectangular shaped graphic appearing 2.5″ wide in the upper left corner of the jersey. On the home white the rectangle will be blue with “StubHub” across in white, on the road blues the rectangle will be white with the text in blue, and the alternate reds will also be white with the font in red.

Home jerseys sold at Wells Fargo Center will include the StubHub patch, it will not be available anywhere else.

Just one month ago the NBA approved the use of small advertisement patches on the front of team jerseys, the patches could be no larger than 2.5″ x 2.5″ and would be up to each team to sell and price as they wished. The amount the Sixers are receiving as part of this deal was not included as part of this news announcement but ESPN’s Darren Rovell is reporting $5 million per year for three years, that would mean this partnership would run from the 2017-18 season through 2019-20.
