The United Soccer League will have a team in Reno, Nevada for the 2017 season, and we’ve known for a while now that the name of the club will be Reno 1868 FC. Now we have an idea of what the team will look like when they take the field, since they’ve unveiled their club colors a while back and just last night, the club revealed their crest.
Here’s the official explanation of the meaning behind the crest, which came from Reno 1868’s press release:
The crest, created by Brandiose, mixes Reno 1868 FC’s official colors – Nevada Cobalt Blue, light gold and silver grey – with the iconic Truckee River and Sierra Nevada mountains taking precedence over the traditional outlook of Reno as a gambling hub.
“We are extremely excited to continue to unveil our club’s identity based on what our fans have told us they want to see,” said Reno 1868 FC president Eric Edelstein. “This crest will truly resonate with not only our growing fan base, but the entire community as well.”
Additionally, the club announced that they will enter into a partnership with Adidas. They’ll be wearing Adidas kits for at least the next two years, so Reno fans have that to look forward to.
Overall, it’s a solid look for Reno 1868, and the fans should be pleased with what they’ve got in this crest, and the obvious hope is that the kits will match the level of the crest. Do you all agree?
