If you’re a fan of Baltimore’s cartoon bird look, then it’s time to celebrate because the predecessor of the current cartoon bird will be on full display tonight.
The Orioles will be paying tribute to the 1966 World Series champion team by wearing throwbacks for their game against the Angels tonight. As such, they’ll be marking the occasion by wearing throwbacks from 1966.
Here’s more from the Orioles’ press release:
During the game, the Orioles will wear 1966 replica throwback uniforms featuring a patch celebrating the 50th anniversary of the 1966 World Series victory. The Orioles game-worn replica throwback jerseys will be autographed, authenticated, and auctioned at www.orioles.com/auction to benefit the Orioles Charitable Foundation. The auction will also include 50th anniversary jerseys autographed by the alumni in attendance.
The cartoon bird on display will be faithful to the 1966 version, and here’s a close look at both the 1966 bird and the current bird.
