In honour of his induction into the National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum this past weekend, the New York Mets will be sporting a patch depicting Mike Piazza on their jersey sleeves.
The patch shows Piazza, the famous goatee on his face, at the plate wearing the Mets white jerseys with blue pinstripes, there is some black in the form of the dropshadow on the name and number — an accurate depiction of the Mets pinstripe uniforms of the era… they just didn’t wear them that often, Piazza is most commonly associated with the Mets predominantly black look.
Piazza’s patch will be worn on the jersey sleeve and the side of the players ballcaps during their game this coming Saturday against the Colorado Rockies. The Piazza logo will also be on the official in-game baseballs used during play that evening.
Mr. Piazza has been featured on an in-game patch before, when he was inducted into the New York Mets Hall of Fame on September 29, 2013 the team wore a special patch showing Mike’s #31 on their caps.
Merchandise featuring the logo will only be available at the Mets team shops at CitiField, making them just a little extra exclusive for you Mets or Piazza fans out there.
