The Tennessee Titans have basically had the same uniforms since forming their current identity after dropping the Oilers identity in time for the 1999 season. Other than switching uniform manufacturers, different cuts/templates, and adding alternate jerseys and pants, the Titans look has remained constant over the years. However, that could be changing in a couple of years.
The controlling owner of the Titans recently made some comments that seem to indicate that the team is looking into making some uniform changes in time for the 2018 season. Amy Adams Strunk talked to ESPN about the possible changes:
“We can refresh and they definitely could use a little updating, but it takes a while to get that done,” Strunk told ESPN.com at Tuesday’s training camp practice. “I kind of visited with the league office about it a little bit a couple months ago. But we got so busy that I didn’t go back to it.
How dramatic a change is possible?
“Well, we started out with changing the carpet here,” she said, gesturing over her shoulder to the team’s facility which was completely remodeled over the summer. “Never say never. I haven’t really gone there enough to know. … Maybe a lot. Maybe just a fresh up.”
Strunk said she likes the team’s color scheme and is a fan of both the light and dark blue, so she didn’t tip her hand about any preferences there.
She also went on to say that they weren’t going to “change the sword on the ceiling,” and she was referring to a representation of the primary logo that’s currently adorning the ceiling of the Titans’ newly-remodeled locker room. So, if we were to go by her comments on the matter, then I think that if the Titans do go ahead and make changes, then the changes won’t be too dramatic. They’ll probably keep the same color scheme, and right now they’re leaning towards keeping the logo as well, so we’d probably just see a uniform change.
It’d be interesting to see what they come up with as far as uniforms are concerned, but the Titans currently have some solid uniforms. The main reason why they haven’t undergone any major uniform changes over the years is probably because they really haven’t needed to do so. The team clearly subscribed to the “If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it” theory when it came to their uniforms, so we probably won’t see anything too crazy if they do decide to go through with the uniform changes.
What do you all think? Are you ready to see the Titans update their uniforms? Do you think they should just stick with their current uniforms for as long as they possibly can? Let us know what you think!
