There’s lots of money to be made for soccer clubs these days… ticket sales, merchandise, and the big one now, jersey sponsorship deals.

It’s an idea the major North American leagues have been considering lately, while some leagues like the Canadian Football League and American Hockey League have seen jersey ads for some time none of the “big four” had taken the plunge until the National Basketball Association recently approved the use on in-game jersey ads; the Philadelphia 76ers naturally the first to strike a deal.

But in Europe it’s just the way it is, and they make big money off of it. Here is a list of the top five jersey sponsorship deals currently in the English Premier League (all figures via Business Review Europe):

5. Manchester City and Etihad Airways - £20 million/year ($US) through 2021
