Logo for 2017 NHL All-Star Game Unveiled

Los Angeles All-Star NHL 2017

The National Hockey League and the Los Angeles Kings today unveiled the logo for the 2017 NHL All-Star game.

Designed by NHL Creative Services, the 2017 NHL All-Star game logo incorporates various features of the City of Los Angeles as well as the host Kings using black and silver as its main colours.

The focal point, the large “LA” in white, silver, and gold “jewelled” font is a nod to the Hollywood scene, behind that is a large silver star with three points (one for each time LA has hosted the All-Star game, and definitely not because the top of a star has three points, that’s just silly talk). Near the bottom is a row of four black stars on gold, this represents each of the four divisions taking part in the all-star tournament. In the middle is a single black palm tree representing… palm trees, of course.

Ever the scamps, the Dallas Stars didn’t take long to register their concern over the fact an All-Star Game is using a star in their logo:

Yup, you’re both star themed. Good catch.

This is the 62nd edition of hockey’s mid-season event and the second using the amazing new tournament format introduced for 2016. The games will be held on January 29, 2017 at the Staples Center in Los Angeles.
