Miami Hurricanes will wear throwback-inspired uniforms later this season

The Miami Hurricanes have a history that they can be proud of when it comes to football — especially in the 1980s and 1990s, which is when the program managed to win four national championships and did so with a brash, flashy, in-your-face style that definitely rankled the college football establishment, both on and off of the field. They also did so in some relatively conservative-but-solid uniforms as well.

Those uniforms looked normal back then, but now they’d look a bit out of place in the crazy world of college football uniforms. However, the Hurricanes have decided that this is a look that they need to go back to, as the program has announced that they’ll be wearing throwback-inspired “Legend of the U” uniforms for at least two games this season.

They’ll be wearing the home uniform for their game on October 8th against Florida State, and that seems like a very fitting game to debut those uniforms in when you consider the history that these two rivals have with each other.

The white road uniforms will make their debut on October 20th against another rival in the form of Virginia Tech.

In an ideal world, the Hurricanes probably would’ve never strayed from this design and they would’ve continued to adapt it ot the uniform templates and technology that came along over the years. They didn’t, so there were plenty of changes that the Hurricanes had to embark on before eventually coming back to this. I don’t think that they’ll make this their primary uniform, but I do have a feeling that they’ll wear them on more than just two occasions this season. These uniforms are extremely popular with the fans, and they also look very good, so that’s the key to seeing these uniforms stick around for longer than intended.

What do you all think? Should the Canes wear these more than twice? Or should they let the past remain in the past?
