The Seattle Mariners will be celebrating their 40th anniversary throughout the entire 2017 season with two special patches to mark the occasion.
Featuring the Seattle skyline complete with Mount Rainier in the background, the Mariners 40th anniversary logo also superimposes the nautical compass rose from their primary logo onto the zero in the design of the number ’40’.
To be worn on the right sleeve of all the Mariners jerseys: home, road, and alternates, the patch is navy blue, northwest green, and silver (with red stitching on the baseball) to match the team’s primary colour scheme. There will also be a version of the patch coloured in royal blue, yellow, and cream for use exclusively on their retro themed Sunday home alternate uniforms.
Seattle had previously worn commemorative patches for their 20th, 25th, 30th, and 35th anniversary seasons in addition to patches worn in honour of being the host of MLB’s All-Star Game in 2001, and the 75th anniversary of the Negro Leagues in 1995.
