The Lehigh Valley IronPigs of the Triple-A International League are getting a little reflective as they enter their 10th season of Minor League Baseball, the team today unveiled the first-ever baseball jersey to use reflective materials, the jersey was developed by Majestic Athletic.
Both the jersey wordmark across the front of the chest and the player numbers will have a reflective effect when lights are shining upon it, it is most noticeable when in close proximity to a flash from a camera.
The jersey is the new primary home jersey for the IronPigs, introduced in celebration of their 10th season. The team will also be wearing a new cap featuring a gold version of their logo, unlike the jersey the caps are not reflective.
Here’s the summary of the new look from the IronPigs:
“In celebration of the club’s 10th anniversary season in 2017, the Lehigh Valley IronPigs will debut an innovative new on-field primary home uniform from Majestic® featuring the first-ever jersey in professional baseball to include reflective twill and number technology. The new on-field jersey uses reflective material that was formulated via low candle power that allows it to reflect and illuminate vividly when in close proximity to flash photography.”
The IronPigs moved to Allentown, Pennsylvania before the 2008 season following 15 seasons in Ottawa where they played as the Ottawa Lynx. They have been affiliated with the Philadelphia Phillies since 2007, their last season in Ottawa.
