NCAA Drops Template, Unveils 2018 Final Four Logo

2018 Final Four Logo

It appears the template introduced by the NCAA for its logos two years ago is no more — the 2018 Men’s Final Four logo, unveiled yesterday, has broken itself out of the mould in a slick new mark designed by Joe Bosack.

It’s not yet clear if this template break is only for the Final Four tournament or across the board.

To be played in San Antonio, TX, the logo for the event features the overall shape of a pennant, it incorporates San Antonio’s Alamo into the top, the River Walk Bridge below, and a basketball flying around it. The main colours are light blue, red, and black, with orange also used on the ball and for the year.

Joe Bosack & Co. also designed the 2016 and 2017 Final Four logos as well as several college team marks unveiled over the past five years.

The final two rounds of the most famous basketball tournament in the world will be held at San Antonio’s AlamoDome from March 29 to April 2, 2018 during the Texas city’s tercentennial year. This is the fourth time San Antonio will host the event, the first time since 2008.
