We already got a tiny bit of good news on the Rams’ Color Rush front when it was revealed that they were one of the teams that wouldn’t be taking part in this year’s Color Rush since the all-yellow look would clash with Seattle’s “Action Green” look. So I suppose that we have the Seahawks to thank for not seeing that all-yellow look in 2016, at least.
That doesn’t mean that the Rams are completely skipping out on the Color Rush festivities, though. It appears that the Rams have decided to give themselves a tiny bit of a throwback look this Thursday by opting to wear white horns on their helmets with gray facemasks.
This will be the first time that the Rams have worn this particular helmet design since the early-1970s — the 1972 season, to be exact. There’s no word on whether or not they’ve got some throwback uniforms waiting in the midst as well. Personally, I think that they’ll just wear their normal all-white “home” uniform and leave it at that, but you never know — maybe the Rams have a surprise waiting on us. We’ll just have to tune in on Thursday.
Although the Rams have been waiting a very long time to break out this particular helmet, it hasn’t completely come out of the blue (for lack of a better term). In fact, the team has long considered this to be an option — even dating back to their days in St. Louis. Three years ago, Rams COO Kevin Demoff tweeted that these were the helmets that he kept in his office. Look at the one on the top right.
So the Rams have been sitting on this idea for a while now, and now they’ve finally decided to put it into motion. It’s only Monday, but the Rams have already had a pretty busy week so far, and it’s only going to get busier as they get closer to Thursday.
What do you all think, though? Who’s happy to see this helmet make a comeback?
