The Tigers finally did it, our phantom champions from last season at Clemson rolled away the tide to get their revenge to the tune of 35-31 in last night’s NCAA Bowl Championship Series finale. The win was Clemson’s first national football title since 1981 and stopped Alabama from winning back-to-back championships after their victory last January.
Here we have a small sampling of “phantom championship” merchandise — the caps, t-shirts, and other items that would have been produced had Alabama gotten just one extra touchdown and won the game.
As you can see they had a “Back to Back Champs” logo all ready to go:
They also produced designs for two of the semi-finalists, Ohio State and Washington:
