There’s a common response I hear whenever a fairly unimpressive new uniform or logo is unveiled, something along the lines of “Wow, my 5th grader coulda done a better job than that!”… Well, we’re about to find out if you’re right.
The Mahoning Valley Scrappers, Class-A Short affiliate of the Cleveland Indians and member of the New York-Penn League are going to give that 5th grade “Picasso” of yours a chance to show what they can do to a baseball uniform. The contest is for fans aged 12 and under to design their own uniform.
You can download the PDF jersey template and entry form here. Entries can be mailed in (address is on the jersey template PDF) or can be submitted online here. Entries must be submitted by May 5, 2017.
The winning design will be worn during the Scrappers game at home on August 5th against the State College Spikes. For designing the winning entry the victor will receive their jersey, the opportunity to throw out the first pitch, and get to hang out with the Scrappers players in the dugout before the game. Five runner-ups will be shown on the video board during a break in play, those five designers will receive free kids’ fan club memberships.
Game worn jerseys will be auctioned off following the game, proceeds will go to benefiting the Akron Children’s Hospital in Mahoning Valley.
