The Golden Bears!
To celebrate their 2016 World Series Championship, the Chicago Cubs will wear gold trimmed uniforms for two home games during their opening series next month.
For their games against the Los Angeles Dodgers on Monday, April 10th and Wednesday, April 12th (their first two home dates of the 2017 season) the Cubs will wear caps with gold in place of the white around the red “C”, gold around the logo on the front of their jersey, and gold names and numbers on the back.
Take a look:
The jerseys also feature the 2016 World Series Champions patch the team is expected to be wearing throughout the 2017 season as well as a special patch on the side of the cap featuring the World Series trophy with “2016” at the base.
Having the defending champions wear gold for a game or two early in the regular season has been happening for quite some time now, typically the jerseys are only worn for those few games then never seen again however the Kansas City Royals liked their gold uniforms so much they continued to wear them for every Friday home game throughout the 2016 season. A modified version of this gold uniform for the Royals is back again in 2017 now as an official alternate jersey.
