Yes, we know the Minnesota North Stars are now down in Dallas.
Yes, we know the Minnesota Wild and North Stars aren’t at all the same franchise.
Do we care?
Nope. Not one bit. Not for this one night, anyways.
The Minnesota Wild are paying tribute to the NHL roots of their home state on April 4th when against the Carolina Hurricanes they will be wearing these 1967 Minnesota North Stars throwback uniforms…
But during the pre-game only.
Aggg! So close.
The Wild’s tribute to the North Stars is in celebration of the 50th anniversary of NHL hockey coming to Minnesota, the North Stars played their expansion season in Bloomington, MN 50 years ago this fall. The team spent 27 seasons in Minnesota before relocating to Dallas where they became the Stars in 1993. Minnesota was teased when they almost became the new home of the Winnipeg Jets in 1995 before losing out to Phoenix, but finally they were awarded the expansion franchise which would become today’s Minnesota Wild in 1997, their first season in 2000-01.
Select jerseys worn during this pre-game skate will be given away in-arena randomly throughout the game, the rest will be made available at auction to benefit the Minnesota Wild Foundation and the Minnesota NHL Alumni Association.
