The Edmonton Oilers are going to fully embrace the orange going forward.
A story in this morning’s Edmonton Journal confirmed our report from nearly three months ago, the Oilers will be wearing orange as their home jersey for the 2017-18 season, the white remains as the road uniform.
The relevant quote from the story:
“Next year, we are mandated by the NHL to go to two uniforms without a third jersey. We will have two new uniforms, one orange and one white. There will be a bit of a changed design to them.”
That’s Bob Nicholson, Chief Executive Officer and Vice-Chairman of the Oilers Entertainment Group, who earlier in that same piece mentioned the Oilers all orange era would begin with their first home game in the 2017 Stanley Cup Playoffs which are set to get underway just two weeks from now.
You may have noticed Nicholson slid something in there at the end, “there will be a bit of a changed design to them”. Not to worry Oilers fans, we’re hearing that this change is just a relatively minor tweak or two to the road white jersey.
