Earlier today, New York City FC announced that they will be wearing a specially-designed “Parley Ocean Plastic™” kit for this weekend’s match against Orlando City SC. The kit was designed to celebrate the unique partnership between Adidas, the MLS and Parley for the Oceans, which is making strides to raise national awareness for the negative effect of marine plastic pollution. Both NYCFC and OCSC will be wearing these special kits, which are created from upcycled plastic that has been retrieved by Parley clean-up operations in coastal areas of the Maldives. According to NYCFC, the kits will be worn at the game, but will not be available for purchase. In lieu of commercial availability, NYCFC will be auctioning off a select number of the the kits after the match, with the proceeds going to the City in the Community local charity.
Along with NYCFC and OCSC wearing these specially-designed kits, LA Galaxy and Seattle Sounders FC will be participating in the initiative. Below are views of each of the 4 kits to be worn this weekend:
